Testing Your System

No matter what type of security systen you have, if it is being monitored, you should test it to make sure the central station gets a signal if it goes off.  Most systems can be programmed to automatically test calling the monitoring system on a set schedule.  But, many people like to test their own systems.  How often you may ask?  Well, it's up to the individual.  I like to test mine once a month.  The correct way to test it is to call the central monitoring station and let them know you are testing.  Then, either set your system off by triggering a device or to avoid all the noise, confused dogs and paranoid children, set your system to the test mode (most have this feature) and the central station will get a signal if it is working properly.
