Old System or New System?
Many people with older security system wonder if they should buy a new security system. To simplify the matter, just ask yourself 2 questions. First, does it work? And second, if it does work, does it everything you want it to do. First, if it doesn't work and you want to save money and try to find out what is wrong, the best thing to do is have a qualified, licensed alarm technician from a reputable company find out what is wrong. It may be something simple and inexpensive to fix. Even though systems are old, they may still be in excellent working order and just need some wires or parts replaced. Next, does your system do all that you want it to. You may be surprised that by reading your manual you may find features your system has that you didn't know were there. But, you may want wireless capabilities, a cellular transmitter or other features your system will not accommodate. The good news is that system prices have come down through the years rather than go up. And for some projects, a wireless system is easier than think to install and could possibly be installed by the home owner.
