Common Security Mistakes

Many times procrastination is the primary problem for home security mistakes. For example some homeowners put off fixing broken locks thinking they will get to that at another time. It is important that you update your locks and make sure they are in working order for all doors and windows. This makes it more difficult for an intruder to break into your home. This would include hiding it under a doormat, a plant by the door, on a door or window ledge, and so on. Burglars know where all the common hiding places are so you are inviting them into your home. Have a security system installed and then leaving it turned off. You should get in the habit of turning it on whenever you leave your home, even if it's for just a short time. It only takes a couple minutes for an intruder to break into your home. Leaving your keys in the car is another security mistake. Even in small rural areas people are beginning to understand the importance of taking the keys with them wherever they go. There are lots of people coming in and out of even small towns to know everyone.
