There is a common mistake that homeowners with kids make when both husband and wife work.  They may have children or an only child that is in school. They may be a student that comes home alone from school each day.  What the parents might do is tell the youngsters not to answer the phone or the door making it appear as though no one is at home.  Although it may only be for a short period of time each day (or longer if the child is home sick), the potential burglar may think that no one is at home and break in only for both the criminal and children to be surprised.
